I work as a freelance computer consultant specializing in web application development and a variety of content management and publishing projects. I was the editor of Canada's national chess magazine En Passant for six years, and have authored several bi-lingual multimedia Training DVDs for ChessBase of Germany since the publication of my first work in 1998. I am now working on my fifth project for them.
I am active at the volunteer level, having served seven terms as President of the Saskatchewan Chess Association, five terms as Governor of the Chess Federation of Canada, and one term as a member of the National Appeals Committee.
I have won dozens of provincial chess championships in Saskatchewan and Alberta, a fourth place at the Canadian Junior Championship many years ago, and several top ten results at the Canadian Open Championship. I am a Senior International Master with ICCF, qualifying and competing in three finals of the Correspondence Chess World Championship with IECG.
Challenging in a different way was my twenty year competitive career in amateur bodybuilding, playing central defender and defensive midfielder in Masters Premier competitive soccer leagues, and qualifying as a Regional level soccer referee here in Alberta.
My wife and I share a love of classic motorcycles and ride almost every day, weather permitting. Last, and most definitely not least, there is our adorable Boxer doggie Athena to take on daily adventures and share everything else with!
